The Art of the Start

I have been saying that it is important to read, read, read! A Christian needs to be informed ... whether history, business, the arts, theology, or anything else. When we quit reading, we shortchange not only ourselves but people around us.

I am just finishing Guy Kawasaki's book, The Art of the Start. It is interesting in that Kawasaki writes with a light tone and maintains a sense of humor throughout. However,  he hits the nail on the head every time as he exposes poor business practices and he starts every chapter with a GIST (Great Ideas for Starting Things)! I am amazed at how these can be used in the church and really are ideas and goals set forth in Scripture.

He talks about the business start-up (and we could compare it to a new church start-up) ...  he says, "Working in a start-up isn't easy ... Therefore, belief in what you're doing is as important as competence and experience." WOW! Go read that again. He says that we NEED TO BELIEVE IN WHAT WE'RE DOING ... and that's every bit as important as competence and experience.

Just wanted to share what I have been reading lately. What are YOU reading?
