Word from the Front

I received an email today from a close friend who's son-in-law is fighting with our troops in Afghanistan.

Thank God that while politicians play games here, trying to out-think the leaders with boots on the ground, our men and women are valiantly fighting an enemy that is trying to kill us.

Bala-Morghab

Friends and family,

I am currently in Bala-Morghab, a village located in the river valley of NW Afghanistan. I have been here since Nov 4th when we lost two soldiers who drowned in the river. As recovery operations were underway, our paratroopers and British divers came under small arms fire from the Taliban. The next 48 hours unleashed some of the most intense fighting thus far. As it started to rain on Nov 6th and the temperature dropped, we received a mass casualty of 17 Afghan National Army commandos and 4 Special Forces soldiers. To make matters worse the helicopter carrying the SF soldiers was hit by a rocket propelled grenade. However, God is so good. We killed an unconfirmed amount (35) of Taliban and all American soldiers were safe. Know that I am doing well. I am cold and in need of a shower and shave, but I am good. It looks like I'll be here another week. Thank you for your prayers!!

Brandon
